I thought it was high time I explained myself.
I have been a pretty active member of the Deviant Art Community for a very long time, but lately I have been all but silent. My children rarely see me even though I live next door to my daughter and her husband.
I'm sure my own husband feels neglected.
It started out small and innocent enough. Once in a long while, I'd happen to be awake, and catch a glimpse of the beckoning green glow through the window. Usually as my husband and I drove home after a late night at work. I dreamed of a digital camera fast enough to capture the mystery and beauty.
Once I had one it was still nothing, it didn't change the fact that I rarely saw the aurora, even if I DO live in Alaska. My aurora photography skills improved at a painfully slow rate. My obsession was a long way off.
Now on my fourth digital camera, and my third DSLR, it has all changed. We are heading into what has been estimated by some to possibly be one of the biggest solar cycles ever recorded, since man started noticing these things - and it shows. My house is a mess. My husband wanders through the kitchen peering into the cupboards looking for food he can eat cold, from the box or can... with his fingers.
I dreamed last night that a friend sent me an email telling me to STOP TALKING ABOUT THE AURORA ALREADY!
I administrate four aurora discussion groups. I built and manage an aurora website. I am part of three aurora alert text messaging groups, and there is no sign of it slowing down, except for the summer's break that looms terrifyingly ahead. XD
Yeah, you could say I'm addicted.
